Puerto Galera is known as The Pearl of Mindoro, it is world-famous for its coral reefs, and exquisite dive sites. There are shallow coral gardens, interesting rock formations, and colorful species to watch, like crabs, shrimps, sea anemones, moray, and trumpet fishes. Being close to Manila, Sabang Beach is extremely popular among European expatriates for its active night life and beachside bars.



Behind the beaches of Puerto Galera are the huge and unexplored mountain ranges of central Mindoro.

A particular local attraction is the nine hole golf course nestled in the mountain with impressive views over Puerto Galera's natural harbor and the Verde Island Passage.



A tour to the Mangyan villages in Puerto Galera is highly recommended, the Iraya Mangyans are the original inhabitants of Mindoro and have deep wavy hair with dark skin. They are an extremely nomadic people who shun unfamiliar influence. You can only visit the Mangyan villages with a tour guide to ensure that you are welcome as some of the remoter tribes have never had contact with the outside world.

Getting There
Local air-conditioned buses provide a regular services between Manila and Batangas Pier which takes roughly 3-4 hours. From Batangas Pier you catch a ferry to Puerto Galera which will take an hour.
